Varese 0-3 Hellas Verona

Varese 0-3 Hellas Verona
Goal scorers: '36, '59, '75 Cacia

A great Cacia and a determinate Hellas win a fundamental match in Varese showing a great performance thank to a disarming solidity.
3-0, especially away, against a declared rival for the promotion is a great result and a message to all the rivals in Serie B.
After a good predominance by Varese in the first minutes of the game, Hellas start a great pressure that culminate with Cacia's goal assisted by Laner.
In the second half a great stunner by the same Cacia and a great counter attack by Martinho finalized by Cacia gave the final 3-0.

Baracani appointed to referee Varese-Hellas Verona

Leonardo Baracani
It will be Leonardo Baracani of Florence the referee that tonight will direct the big match of the 6th Serie B game week.
Baracani, who was born the 7th March 1974, refereed 99 caps among Serie A, Serie B and Coppa Italia, and after 31 games he was promoted from Lega Pro.

The referee directed two times the gialloblu: a defeat against Foggia at 'Zaccheria' (2-0 the 21st October 2007 in Serie C) and a draw in last season's Serie B in Gubbio for 1-1 (the 1st October 2011).

In his career he gave 433 yellow cards, 24 red cards and he conceded 19 penalties.

Mandorlini ahead of Varese: "We have some deflections but we're self-confident"

Andrea Mandorlini
source: Hellas1903.it

Andrea Mandorlini looked a bit afflict when he remembered about Novara game: "In the second half we had a wrong attitude, we defended too much. But they've equalized thank to an error of our goalkeeper, we conceded nothing much. This Hellas have never lost, I like this team: I'm very happy of what we're doing".

The manager of Ravenna started in that way his press conference ahead of Varese tie: "We're going to plat against a tough opponent that is in Serie B high positions since years. We have some deflections, lot of injuries, and we're going there with only 19 players included three goalkeepers: the situation is this one but we're ready".

It's difficult to theorize a turnover: "Lot of players will miss the game, so it won't be easy. But we're a strong team, we never give up. Everybody has problems, even in Serie A I saw them clearly. But we must insist, knowing that we're improving day after day".

19 players called up to face Varese

Andrea Mandorlini called up only 19 players for tonight game against Varese.

As we said yesterday, Rivas and Grossi didn't recover their aches. In the list there are also three goalkeepers.
Carrozza was called up and he might start from the 1st minute.

Varese, Neto Pereira and Nadarevic unavailable, Ebagua in doubt

Giulio Ebagua was close to join Hellas
Hellas Verona will travel to Varese tomorrow night to face the biancorossi at Masnago.

Fabrizio Castori has got some lineup problem as Brazilian striker Neto Pereira and winger Enis Nadarevic are not available for the tie. Both players didn't play last Saturday in Varese away win against Juve Stabia.

Even Nigerian forward Giulio Ebagua is in doubt for tomorrow game as he was substituted in Castellammare di Stabia for an ache.

Ebagua, who was close to join Hellas in the last transfer market, scored three goals in three Serie B games this season. If he won't recover, Eusepi and Momentè will start from the first minute.

Crespo not available for Varese

Josè Angel Crespo
source: Hellas1903.it

Nothing to do for Josè Angel Crespo.
The Spanish full back won't take part to tomorrow away game in Varese due to an injury suffered against Reggina.

Rivas and Grossi, who didn't play last Friday, are in doubt, while Cocco, who might be called up against Bari, and the usual Pugliese are definitely not available.

Mandorlini: "We're not in a perfect condition"

Andrea Mandorlini
source: hellasverona.it

Andrea Mandorlini, Hellas Verona manager, was disappointed after his team drew against Novara in the last minutes. Here's his comments after the game: "I'm not angry. There were also another team on the pitch and they played a good game. We're not a brilliant team at the moment. I got angry for the last situation (Maietta's shot), we should have won it like we did lot of times last season. But we missed the right stimulus to close the game because Maietta's ball should have seen 3-4 players of us close to head it. They've equalized on an error made by our goalkeeper, it's a pity. We haven't got the right condition for the whole game. We attack in great velocity and then we recover very slow. We're suffering a bit and this is a general condition. We missed two or three times the 2-0 and then they had an interesting ball. It's a pity, I repeat, because they could have scored only in that way. Bacinovic? It's neither a psychological thing or physical, he's an important player and he must give more. Varese? We're only trying to improve, it's not a revenge".

Pagelle, Hellas Verona 1-1 Novara

Rafael 5.5: The Brazilian goalkeeper might be called Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde: amazing in the double save at the end of the first half and then very poor on Alhassan shot. Rafael seemed unsafe.

Abbate 5.5: The best form is far away for the right full back that showed decent things last season. Unfortunately for Matteo, he didn't show what he wanted to do.

Hellas Verona 1-1 Novara

Martinho's goal
Hellas Verona 1-1 Novara
Goal scorers: '4 Martinho; '85 Alhassan (N)

It's a draw the final score between Hellas Verona and Novara.
The gialloblu start well the match by scoring with Brazilian new signing Martinho after a great run by Hallfredsson.
Hellas try to double their lead while Novara desperately try to find an equalizer. At the end of the first half it's Rafael who amazingly saves two times in a second.
The second half gives few emotions and when everything seem closed, Novara find the equalizer with Alhassan whose 30 yards shot found Rafael unprepared.

Hellas Verona - Novara, probable lineups

Two hours before the kick off (21:00) of the 5th game week of 2012/13 Serie B that will see Hellas Verona hosting Novara at 'Bentegodi'.

Two doubts for Andrea Mandorlini, manager of the gialloblu: Laner or Bacinovic? Cacciatore or Martinho?

Ciampi to referee Hellas-Novara

Maurizio Ciampi
It will be Maurizio Ciampi the referee designated for tonight's game between Hellas Verona and Novara.
The assistants will be Stallone and Cucchiarini while the fourth official is Abbattista.

The record with the referee of Rome is one win, three draws and one defeat.

The first time was in 2006 against Spezia at 'Picco' when the gialloblu lost 1-0 with Varricchio on target.

Midfield, three places and four players

Simon Laner
Difficult choices for Hellas Verona manager Andrea Mandorlini ahead of tomorrow night game against Novara.
In fact, after there are four players and just three available places in the starting lineup.

Jorginho and Hallfredsson should regularly start while one between Laner and Bacinovic would be the third midfielder. It is also possible that Mandorlini will make a turnover in view of Tuesday game against Varese and next week's game at 'Bentegodi' when Bari will visit the gialloblu.

Laner played two excellent games against Reggina and Vicenza, with a goal and an assist, and Bacinovic is back again in the team after the call up received by Slovenia National team.

If the Slovenian will start he would be the playmaker with Jorginho back on the right and Laner on the bench.

Bari and Crotone deducted two points

Bari manager Torrente
AS Bari and FC Crotone have been deducted two points each after the two clubs missed to pay contributions to ENPALS.

This decision was made by the Commissione Disciplinare.

Bari, that was already deducted five points, have now three points in the League while Crotone have four.

Carrozza available to face Novara

Alessandro Carrozza
source: Hellas1903.it

The week before the Vicenza game he was back in the group.
Now Alessandro Carrozza is completely recovered and is ready to play. The winger is available for tomorrow night game against Novara at 'Bentegodi'.

He trained with the rest of the group since twelve days and as it was reported by Mandorlini, Carrozza is in an excellent form.

Today the fans subscribed 25 season tickets valid for the 2012-13 season. The campaign lasted around two months.

As we said in the previous articles, Hellas Verona beat their last record of subscriptions in Serie B.

Novara, Gonzalez red card overturned

Pablo Gonzalez
Novara striker Pablo Gonzalez was wrongly sent off last Saturday against Juve Stabia for a suspicious violent reaction.

After the biancoblu recourse, the red card was overturned and so the Argentinian won't be disqualified against Hellas and is available for an eventual call up for Friday night game.

Even Attilio Tesser, Novara's manager, who was sent off as well, will be on the bench next Friday because the Sporting judge considered his protests against Gonzalez red card justified.

Laner after Vicenza: "We never give up"

Simon Laner (on the right)
source: hellasverona.it

Simon Laner released these comments after Vicenza game: "A great win. If I played well till now it's only credit to my teammates that help me a lot. We were good to win this game. When you're losing game like that it's never easy to turn it up, especially a derby. The team is improving day by day. If I envy Cacia's goals? Never. I hope he scores other 20 goals. The most important thing is to win. The derby is a particular game and the tension is very high. We never give up, we're determinate and we want to end the season in the high positions".

Mandorlini after Vicenza: "We really wanted to win this game"

Andrea Mandorlini
source: hellasverona.it

Andrea Mandorlini was very happy after the thrilling derby that saw Hellas winning 3-2 against rivals Vicenza: "They played a good game and they've started better than us. But we were concrete: I do like my time in the ball possession. We are patient. And we're improving game after game. We don't care if other teams lost, we're only looking at us and I think that the result we made is vital. Vicenza goals? In the first goal we were naive because Malonga was alone against four defenders. And even the second goal was a present. In general, the ball is always ours but we still don't have the right velocity. In the last twenty minutes we were tired because of the hot weather, it was the first time that we played at 15. I have to congratulate myself with Vicenza and Pinardi in particular, I liked him very much. Hallfredsson? He played two games with his National team, as well as Bacinovic. From the Icelandic I want more than that: he's at his 65%, like the general condition. Martinho's injury? I hope it won't be anything serious. It's a pity because he's an adaptable player. Cacia? He want to score a lot, that's why we signed him".

Pagelle, Vicenza 2-3 Hellas Verona

Daniele Cacia
Rafael 7: The Brazilian goalkeeper confirms he has quick reflexes by saving Plasmati's header at the end of first half. He was close to save Pinardi's penalty but unluckily the ball didn't stop his run.

Abbate 6: Matteo returned after few games to start as a right full back and immediately it's clear how he is important for the gialloblu. He assures more defensive plays than Crespo and without risk he plays a solid game. He makes way for the Spanish defender at the end of the game due to a physical problem. ('85, Crespo sv.)

Emil Hallfredsson against Modena
source: hellasverona.it

Here's Emil Hallfredsson statements in view of tomorrow match against Vicenza interviewed by Radio Verona: "The derby is an important match and we're preparing it at the best. Last year we lost, despite my goal, and then we started our amazing period with nine wins in a row, but Saturday we want to win. My aim? It's to return to play in Serie A and with the new arrivals this team is strong in all the positions. We know that our objective is to reach promotion even if the are lot of teams that claim the same results. Serie B remain a very difficult League. How do I feel? I'm very fit and my teammates are as well. We travel to Vicenza without thinking about last year's result but to win the game".

Derby, in the last 35 years 5 wins and 3 defeats for the gialloblu at 'Menti'

source: Hellas1903.it

Since thirty years, Hellas have a good tradition at 'Menti'. In fact against Vicenza the gialloblu obtained more victories than losses.

The scaligeri won by adjudication for 2-0 in a Coppa Italia tie of the 1988 (the game was suspended due to troubles when Hellas were winning 1-0), again in Coppa Italia 4-0 in 1992 and 2-1 in 2003 with a decisive goal scored by Papa Waigo. Another two wins in 2005 and 2006 both for 1-0: the first with Turati and the second with Iunco.

Trainings, Hellas to train three days in Veronello with close doors

Hellas Verona leave Sandrà. The change, as it was reported on the club's official website, is temporary due to the bad pitch conditions of Sandrà's sporting ground.

From today until Friday the gialloblu will train in Veronello, that was the official training ground in the 70s and then for decades the home of Chievo.

Hellas will train with closed doors in view of Vicenza, game scheduled for next Saturday at 15 at 'Romeo Menti' stadium.

Simon Laner
source: hellasverona.it

The altoatesino midfielder Simon Laner explained to the press his satisfaction of his first goal with Verona: "For me it's a great joy: I'm born here, in Hellas academy. Scoring under the Curva Sud then...amazing! I've always dreamt it, I couldn't ask more. We saw a great Verona, in all aspects. We played an excellent game at back and we started the dangerous actions starting from there. We didn't concede clear chances to our rivals".

Mandorlini after Reggina: "We wanted to win the game"

Andrea Mandorlini
source: hellasverona.it

Hellas Verona manager Andrea Mandorlini was interviewed after the gialloblu win for 2-0 over Reggina: "We've started the game very well, then after the goal we lied down a bit. In the half time I spoke with my team and we change our behavior. If that was a penalty? Cacia told me he was kicked so I think it was a foul. Anyway we've created lot of chances even if we're not perfect in scoring goals yet. We have very good players, but the team is not a real group yet and we have to improve our way of playing football. The most important thing was the tree points. Bojinov's first game? He's a fantastic guy and I really hope he can help us. He's ready and determinate".

Hellas Verona 2-0 Reggina

A good Hellas beated 2-0 Reggina at home and gain the first win of the season in the 2012/13 season.

Mandorlini: "We need to start winning from tomorrow"

Andrea Mandorlini
source: Hellas1903.it

Only one win in the first four official games of the season.
Against Genoa in Coppa Italia, Hellas won the game but after penalties. It's clear that the gialloblu have some difficulties to score.

Andrea Mandorlini would like to gain the three points tomorrow night against Reggina. In the press conference before the game he said: "We play well but to win the games we need another things. Against Spezia I saw a good Verona, we dominated even if they're one of the best team in the League".
Mandorlini didn't like the controversies after the second draw in a row: "The polemics were exaggerated, the press need to be more sane. However, the fans are always with us trying to push us to the victory, I really appreciate it".

Tomorrow night, Hellas will find a good team well organized: "They've started well this season, with a draw and a win. We need to be careful, but I always think about my team and about our potentialities".
Bacinovic and Hallfredsson were called up with their national teams and won't be available: "But we can't say we don't have alternatives. Cacciatore can also play as a midfielder. But I'm valuing various opportunities. In the attack? Cacia is our reference point and he'll always be".

Then about Bojinov he said: "I spoke with him and I asked him how he feels. Compared to Cacia he didn't train in a group but we'll see".

Rivals: Reggina, Dionigi press conference ahead of 'Bentegodi' tie

Reggina manager Davide Dionigi
Davide Dionigi, who was a feared forward when he used to play in the 90s, was Taranto manager last season and was chosen by Reggina president Lillo Foti as the new amaranto coach.

Before leaving for Verona he spoke about tomorrow night game against the gialloblu: "We play against one of the strongest team of the League. They're amazing, especially in the midfield where they have great qualities. I want a cheeky team".

Irrati the referee chosen for Hellas Verona - Reggina

Massimiliano Irrati
One win, three draws and two losses: this is the Hellas Verona record with Massimiliano Irrati of Pistoia, the referee appointed for tomorrow night game at 'Bentegodi' against Reggina.

The only gialloblu win with the Tuscany referee was last January against Modena where Hellas were trailing 1-0 till the '80 when Lepiller and Gomez turned the match in a 2-1 late win.

Bojinov: "Hellas, you have nothing less than Juve"

Valeri Bojinov at the 'Bentegodi'
Valeri Emil Bojinov introduced himself yesterday afternoon to the press at the 'Bentegodi' stadium. He said he was enthusiastic and much determined. Then he started with his first words as a gialloblu: "Verona is great. 20,000 people every Saturday, this is not a Serie B team. We deserve more, this is our aim. I really can't wait to win".

Then Bojinov approached the gialloblu to another team: "If I think about Hellas, well, we're not inferior to Juventus. I played there and I won the Serie B League. Lot of fans, great passion, great interest in the team: we have nothing less than Juve. For this reason I immediately agreed to join".

The offers from other clubs were important: "Hamburg and Torino contacted me. But I liked Hellas project. The sporting director Sogliano and the president Setti: how could I refuse? Then I spoke with Mandorlini. What to say about him? He's determined, a person who never gives up, exactly what we need. He has won here, you know better than me his qualities".

Years ago, Bojinov was considered as one of the biggest talent in European football. Fiorentina first and then Juventus before joining Manchester City. But something did not work. He said: "I don't look at the past. I could talk about it for ages but I don't care. I'm 26, the perfect age to demonstrate who I am. And Verona is the ideal place to do it".

Even if he is in the Bulgarian national team he was not called up for tonight's game against Italy.
Bojinov trained in the last weeks: "I worked well, I'm fit now. If Hellas need me, I'm ready. I want to give a lot to the gialloblu. How many goals this year? I prefer to demonstrate than talking. Ten, fifteen, twenty...the most important thing is to help Hellas to achieve the aim that we prearrange. I'm humble, I'm here to demonstrate".

Fabrizio Cacciatore

Yesterday Hellas Verona introduced two of their new signings to the press. We're talking about Cacciatore and Berardi, who joined the scaligeri in the last day of the summer transfer market.

Grosseto and Vicenza got a transfer market extension

Franco Semioli with Sampdoria shirt
Anyone who said that the calciomercato was over the 31st August was definitely wrong. In fact, Grosseto and Vicenza, in Serie B, and Lecce and Nocerina, in Lega Pro, asked and got an extension to operate on the transfer market until the 10th September.
The decision was taken after the Corte Federale's decision to assign the above-mentioned teams to their current Leagues after the calcioscommesse scandal was over.

The teams can sign new players from every club in Italy but they cannot sell players to those teams that are not included in this special extension.

Rivals: Reggina, Sarno and Bombagi won't be called up

Davide Dionigi, Reggina manager since July
source: Hellas1903.it

If Hellas Verona won't have five players for Saturday night game against Reggina, the calabresi suffer important absences as well.

In fact, Reggina manager Davide Dionigi saw two important players ruled out for Verona: Sarno, already out in last week's 1-0 victory over Pro Vercelli, and in the last hours also Bombagi.

Two strikers not available for the amaranto that will presumably change the usual scheme from 3-4-1-2 to 3-5-2.

Two Hellas Verona games moved to Friday night

'Butei' last year in Padova
Yesterday the Lega of Serie B announced the games, from the 4th to the 11th game week, that will be moved due to television rights.
In particular, Hellas Verona third home game against Novara has been put back 24 hours and will be played Friday 21st September at 21:00.

The second game switched to Friday night is the gialloblu away trip to 'Euganeo' stadium for the Veneto derby against Padova, the 5th October at 20:45.

Sogliano: "Slow start? I'm not worried but I'd like more grit"

Sporting director Sean Sogliano
source: Hellas1903.it

According to most of the Serie B experts, to not say all of them, Hellas Verona is the favorite team to win this year the Serie B League. The scaligeri sporting director Sean Sogliano was interviewed yesterday after the press conference of Cacciatore and Berardi and was asked him about Verona's slow start: "I'm not worried. We know our potentialities but we must not have a big head and think about winning every game. Let's give time to the team, I'm sure that the team will grow up soon".

Cacia: "I'm here to reach Serie A"

Daniele Cacia during his presentation
Daniele Cacia chose Hellas Verona after he received lot of proposals, but why? He explained: "Totò De Vitis helped me with the choice. The night of the 30th August I was with him. If I ever had any doubt on choosing Hellas, well, he resolved them".

A forward of his ability found a team at the end of the market: "The situation was lengthen because I wanted to join a Serie A team. I'm 29 and I would like to put myself to the test of a League that, when I reached it, I never played at my best due to some injuries. But when I understood there were no chances but only talks then I immediately chose Hellas".

Five Verona players to miss Saturday game against Reggina

Andrea Cocco
The bad news is that five players will miss Hellas Verona's Saturday night game against Reggina, the good news is that Mandorlini has got enough replacements.

Pugliese, as we know, won't take part at the game due to his malleolus fracture that will take him out until January. Cocco, in the photo on the left, is close to a complete recover but won't be available, while Carrozza is out for another two weeks due to a muscle injury.

Alessandro Berardi

Coppa Italia, Palermo-Verona the 27th November

After defeating Virtus Entella and then Genoa at 'Luigi Ferraris', Hellas Verona will face Palermo at 'Renzo Barbera' the 27th November.

The game against the rosanero is anticipated to Tuesday but the hour of play is not announced yet.

If Hellas will qualify for the next round, the gialloblu will travel to 'San Siro' the 18th December to face Inter.

Last year the scaligeri defeated Parma but then lost to Lazio 3-2 in the last minutes.
